We have been hearing since San Diego Comic-Con that Marvel’s Black Pantherwould feature two villains. Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) has already been officially announced and many assume the second would be Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis), a character that first appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015. That may not be the case, however, […]
It’ll be another two years before the full-length Black Panther film is released. The film — the first time a big-budget black superhero movie will hit the big screen — stars Chadwick Boseman, and audiences got a sneak peek at what’s to come in Captain America: Civil War, released earlier this year. That film felt […]
The director answered a fan’s question on Quora that asked whether the hero’s ring had any magical powers or abilities. Anthony said, “Black Panther’s ring is special to him because it was worn by his father, the king.” “When he puts it on for the first time in Civil War, it’s symbolic of him taking […]
Not long after revealing himself to be Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War, T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) tells Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) that the Black Panther mantle is passed down from warrior to warrior. It was a very simple, concise way of giving the audience enough of what they needed to […]
According to star Chadwick Boseman, his onscreen version of the famed Marvel Comics character will have some “anti-hero” traits when Black Panther arrives on screen in 2018. “This is an anti-hero, sort of,” Boseman said inside the PEOPLE / EW / InStyle portrait studio at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday, using a term […]
Black Panther is different than many of the other Marvel heroes we’ve seen on screen, in that quite a few of them are very quippy. Iron Man certainly, even Captain America to a certain extent. Black Panther, throughout his history, is a more serious character — and given his nature, that makes a lot of […]
From the Marvel Studios presentations, we know that Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead) and Nyong’o (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) play Okoye and Nakia, members of Wakanda’s elite special forces unite called the Dora Milaje. “I’m super excited, especially to put a different spin on it,” the actor tells The Hollywood Reporter at Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. “I’m looking forward to working with Ryan [Coogler] once again. It’s gonna be a good time.”
The film is being co-written by Coogler and Joe Robert Cole, a black writer who wrote a few episodes for FX’s recent and popular The People v. O.J. Simpson (and who came out of that Marvel writers’ program years ago). And it’s shooting in places where black people live. “We’ll do our stage work in […]
Michael B. Jordan will reteam with his Creed director Ryan Coogler for Marvel’s Black Panther, inking a deal to join movie’s buzzy cast, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. This would be the third time that Jordan will work with Coogler, who is helming the comic book movie as well as writing the script. The first time the […]
Lupita Nyong’o, who won an Oscar for her performance in 12 Years a Slave, is in negotiations to star opposite Chadwick Boseman in Marvel Studios’ Black Panther. N’yongo’s character has not been revealed although she will be the Panther’s love interest.
Here’s what Feige said when I asked if they had locked in a finished script, “Very soon. We have a number of writers on it including Ryan Coogler, who is also directing, he’s working on the draft right now. Between now and the end of the summer there will be more casting announcements. We start […]
