Tessa Thompson sparked what has become a passionate pop culture fire just over two months ago at the Thor: Ragnarok press junket. She mentioned a pitch that she and several women from the Marvel Cinematic Universe made to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige for an all-female team-up film. Since then, it has become the most popular superhero movie that isn’t actually in active development, at least as far was we know.
Karen Gillan, who plays Nebula in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, was one of the women who made the pitch with Thompson. As she tells IndieWire, the studio could not ask for a better time to turn this good idea into a green light picture.
