Marvel Studios received a pleasant surprise via a record opening weekend for Avengers: Infinity War. The studio’s 19th featured film hauled in over $250M in North America and over $640M worldwide. Those totals broke the records respectively held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($248M) and The Fate of the Furious (#541.9M).

Studio president Kevin Feige is feeling a lot of things today, but mostly gratitude. He released a letter today thanking all of the people who’ve built the Marvel Cinematic Universe into what it is today and the fans who’ve embraced it over the past decade.
