During a talk today at USC’s Marshall School of Business, Iger gave an update about the future of the Star Wars franchise.
“We’re just starting to talk about what happens to Star Wars after [Episode] 9. It’s way too early, and certainly nothing that I can reveal, but we’ve got a creative team actually thinking about what could be another decade and a half of Star Wars stories. It’s kind of mind-blowing to spend an afternoon with a creative team talking about that. Where could you go, where should we go?”

Agreed. These start to feel less like films and more like advertisements for the next installments. That’s why the MCU is starting to get stale, fast, and why shared universes are a neat concept on paper, but on film it rarely ever makes for an actual good movie, with a start, middle and end.

Honestly, TFA was just a rehashed unoriginal product… not a film, a *product*. Ignoring the SJW bullshit, the movie was just weak. And Rogue One… Holy shit, people said it was a vast improvement over TFA. Rogue One was shockingly bad. What a total mess of a film. Retarded characters with ZERO development. A story that makes no sense, boring action, mediocre CGI (the last ‘battle’ looked like a video game), etc. Even Vader looked like a cosplayer to me. That final scene was epic though, but made no sense tonally. We go from seeing the entire Rogue One team die (which is just lazy as fuck writing in and of itself) to the planet blowing up, then Vader goes on a murdering rampage, to Leia saying there’s hope in a span of fucking seconds. Even the music is mediocre.
The approach Disney took to these movies is the worst of the worst. Make movies as if they’re products. Pump out as many movies, not caring about actual original stories and development.
Now there’s a Han Solo movie coming out, which no one gives a shit about. Then Ep 8, which is most likely gonna be another rehash… People bitched about the prequels, but give credit where credit is due, at least those movies fucking tried. At least they had original stories and the underlying narrative throughout the prequel trilogy was actually fantastic, it just wasn’t executed that well. I didn’t see Rogue One in theaters because Ep 7 was so disappointing. After seeing Rogue One, I was not only happy I spared my money, but now I know I won’t ever spend another dime on Disney Star Wars films. These movies are dumb.
