The untitled “Star Wars” Han Solo spinoff has parted ways with directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
“Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, in a statement.
“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew,” added Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

I never gave a shit about this stupid movie anyways, but this is just sad… They’ve been filming for months now. The movie is practically done, and only now does the two-faced bitch Kathleen Kennedy decide “they’re not the right people”? They’re far better directors than she deserves, she should be grateful. But knowing Kennedy, she probably just replaced them because they had the audacity to make a film with “fucking white male” lead that doesn’t feature a single overpowered to oblivion Mary Sue.
This movie is doomed and the only good thing is, they might be doing Flash now (probably not, but I hope they do).1 like -

Phil and Christopher are talented directors, should be given full support and creative power. NOT COOL.

Although it is a shame for them to leave the project right in the middle of filming, this movie deserves this. It is so unnecessary and has such a boring premise, I simply can’t believe it is actually filming… Rogue One was already unnecessary and came out a boring mess with zero characterization and interesting new stuff, so why expect their second “anthology” movie to be any better?
Anthology should be renamed for “since we can’t make the main movies every year, instead of taking a break, we’ll just milk this franchise for everything it has until we saturate the market with Star Wars movies and they stop being special (though they haven’t been special since 1983 either way).0 likes-
I don’t disagree with anything you said, but the reality is that unnecessary mess with zero characterization made a billion dollars. That’s all that matters to these Hollywood bigwigs. It is a business as we tend to forget.

That is true, but it is really disheartning how good the reviews for it were.

You’re making me miss George Lucas and Fox now.

Well, George did make the prequels, so… I would be too sad about that. He shouldn’t be the one to be in charge of these movies either.

Filmmakers really need to think twice about working on these “shared universe” films. If you want to do what you’re told and make a big paycheck that’s fine, I don’t blame you. It’s working out well for James Gunn & The Russos.
But don’t complain about “creative differences”. At this point it’s pretty clear (even to us outsiders) how Disney and WB operate in regards to this type of filmmaking. If Kennedy told these guys to change something you shut up and change it. If you thought otherwise you picked the wrong franchise.

They don’t see it as filmmaking or even a film, it now just a product to sell.

Ding!
So when you’re a filmmaker, as Miller & Lord claim to be, and you sign up for a project like this you should know better.
That’s what separates Christopher Nolan, James Cameron and George Lucas (his body of work overall, not just SW) from hacks like James Gunn.
