‘Black Panther’ 4-day opening now up to $242M, second best of any film in history

Another day, another box office estimate falls before Marvel Studios’ Black Panther. After earning $201.8M in its first three days, the Ryan Coogler-directed film was projected to haul in $235M through four days at the domestic box office. Now, that industry-estimated total is up to $242M.

It’s the best four-day opening for any superhero film, surpassing The Avengers ($226.3M). It also beat Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($241.6M) for the second best four-day total of any film ever released at the North American box office.  The only film with a better four-day opening is Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($288.1M).
