Long before we ever had a trailer, the first glimpse any fans got at Brie Larson in costume as Captain Marvel came during Marvel Studios’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2017. For over a year, fans shared blurry photos taken from the Hall H screens. Now, we have a high-quality image of one of those pieces of concept art, courtesy of the person who created it.

Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park shared his fantastic design for Captain Marvel while crediting Jamie McKelvie and Kris Anka, the comic book artists who inspired the MCU iteration of the character.

She just looks like the kid from Mercury Rising…who was autistic, yes.

Phenomenal! So I’m guessing S.H.I.E.L.D designed that suit for her, cause it looks too similar. Especially the linings on the thigh section, Spidey and Antman have them too(guess Tony/Hank weren’t the ones who designed them). The best fan theory suggests all the MCU superhero costumes were issued by S.H.I.E.L.D.

Just paying attention to detail is all, it’s the DC fan in me.

I thought they just took the previous season’s CW costumes and re-painted them.

No, those use high quality plastic, not vinyl.

My biggest issue with the MCU costumes is that they all look like they were bought from the same superhero department store. Oh and Sean, is phenomenal, is it stupendous, is it marvelous, is it breathtaking? Oh, I think it’s magnificent. Anything MCU is magnificent. Right, Sean?

Marvel always did a great job of just saying, “this is how our heros look, this is their weird ass story.”No black costumes from x-men, no grounding it in realism. DC finally took a cue when they said Wonder Woman was made of clay.
