At just 32, Ryan Coogler has already turned out an extraordinary trilogy of missing-father-and-son films: “Fruitvale Station,” which played Un Certain Regard after debuting at Sundance, “Rocky” sequel “Creed,” and historic blockbuster “Black Panther,” which has crashed Hollywood barriers that should have been shattered decades ago.
Coogler’s original coming-of-age concept for “Black Panther” was a lion learning what it means to be king, a man who carried an idealized version of his father and country in his head. When that is destroyed, he has to pick up the pieces and create something new. Coogler had never seen an African man like T’Challa, untouched by colonization, either in a movie or in history.

Ugh. Crap movie. Nothing great about it. Possible the worst MCU movie id rather watch Incredible Hulk or Thor 1. Nothing special like bro other than the cultural representation no crazy twists and they used the most OBVIOUS trope in movie history: actually expecting us to believe BP was dead. Like cmon now in my opinion the whole time period they thought he was dead was a waste of time since NOBODY actually thought he was. Maybe like a 6/7 out of 10 not anything special.

BP was easily his worst film and was nothing special at all… even by the way you describe it, it’s obvious the praise is purely political.

No, this was great. Not forever epic, but great.

Even if it was, and it ain’t, it’s still his “worst” film.

They could have edited out half of that movie and no one would have noticed or cared.
That’s how “great” it was.0 likes

I like BP but come on, trying to sell it as more as what it is.

I agree, everyone knows China would have bought Wakanda if it were real.

By making a generic movie? Creed was also generic as hell
