Great Scott! The one franchise audiences most want to see a new movie from is…Back to the Future, the Robert Zemeckis-directed trilogy that ended 29 years ago, according to a new Hollywood Reporter/Morning Consult poll.
Of the 2,201 adults surveyed between Nov. 8 and 11, 71 percent said that they’d be likely to watch another outing for Marty McFly and Doc Brown ahead of other franchises like Pixar’s Toy Story (69 percent), Lucasfilm’s Indiana Jones (68 percent) and Universal’s Jurassic Park (67 percent).

Leave good enough alone. This is why Terminator keeps failing and the next one will be a ‘surprising’ failure. If anything wait until Cameron finishes these Avatar sequels no one asked for and give it back to him. Honestly, Hollywood is out of ideas. Nolan, Tarantino, and Scorsese are probably the only ones left making good movies. Last thing we need is another reboot about a kid going back in time to have his mother flirt with him and nearly kill his family.

Can we please make some, I dunno, original films that have never been made before? Is there some sort of shortage of original screenplays in Hollywood?

Tough to go original when the costs and stakes have gotten so high. Sure if you succeed you will have a gold mine but the odds are not good. Anything with an established history has a built-in base that really, really helps convince people to risk $100 million on a project.
There are tons of potential franchises out there. Just need people willing to take huge risks.
