If there’s one gay character in the movies, that would make 1/100 (the approximate number of named characters on screen). If you think this is a lot, I have no idea where you live that 1% or more of the population isn’t gay.

I wish they did all this stuff and didn’t make a big deal of it. I think it could have been very easy for them to introduce more inclusive characters already. But you can’t have a gay character without the lead up to it on “look how inclusive marvel is being!” Inclusion isn’t my number one desire when I go and see these movies, but it is important to other people and that’s fine and I understand the importance. But the fact that there is a headline “it’s about time we have a ……. superhero” always bugs me. Just be inclusive naturally and don’t Point it out like it needs to be shown off.

This is kinda a combo thing really. Movies always crow whenever they do anything new. Just one more way to try and get people to show up to watch. And there are a lot of people out there who do value diversity and inclusion very highly. This makes the topic prime material for articles.
But I am with you on looking forward to a time where all this is just normal and we can focus on the movie as a whole and not just who is playing what part.

The issue isn’t us, it’s you. You’re an unreasonable crybaby who refuses to accept criticism. And you know what? I never said word one about Brie Larson’s comments nor did I say the movie would tank nor did I encourage people to troll all these review sites. I came from a strict journalism perspective.
And what did you do? You cried, blocked, and reported everyone who said something you didn’t like.

I think part of it is that when you have a giant franchise, everything the creators say becomes an article. Sometimes it’s the media that blows it up like something was said on top of a hill with a megaphone, whereas the intent was more low key and was said in a more “normal” way.

I agree, websites want to make people click, so they have to sensationalize a little, but in this case if “The world is ready” was what she actually said then that seems to be deliberately an attempt to hype. To me when something like that is said, it implies that up until this point fans would have rejected a gay hero in the MCU, which isn’t true. People will always have complaints and do so past the point of criticism, but don’t use that as your excuse for not introducing one sooner. Its very easy to have a gay character and not force it on people, instead of only now doing it because “its time” to have one

When sexual orientation becomes a focal point of a superhero movie, you’ve officially begun your collapse. I honestly worry for this universe post Endgame.
I’ve also heard Captain Marvel was a bit too PC at times during the film from numerous popular YouTube reviewers.
Marvel needs to understand that people want good superhero movies. We don’t care about sexual preference, if it’s a male or female lead, etc. Just make good or even great films with continuous character development.
