damn i feel bad but someone should help him with the movies
I liked the movie. It still would have been better if this was a direct sequel to MoS rather than it trying to be a set up for the Justice League. WB is trying to hard to catch up with Marvel which imo is not necessary at all. Superman and Batman are well recognized heroes and will garner a big audience. Snyder tried his best and I still love his visual style and the way he directs the fights. The pacing of the movie was a bit off though (for a movie that is)
To me it felt like having comic/manga pages come to life in front of you and like having different scenes in different panels.. I am bad with words and I don´t know how to describe it but I do understand where the critisizm comes from.
Hope this does not bomb at the box office and I hope they stick with Snyder for Justice League with it hopefully not trying to be just a set up movie for Justice League part 2 like this tried to be a set up for Part 1
They seem to do their own thing not trying to beat marvel there’s no prooF of that just people assuming so. if they are they will copy every thing marvel does.
I never said they wanna beat Marvel. The DC/ Marvel war between the fans is ridiculous.
I just think they are a tad lazy with the way they are setting up their universe. Before we got the crossover in the MCU all those heroes (except for Blackwidow and Hawkeye) got their own movie introducing them to the audience.
Next year we are already getting the first Justice League movie (which i am really really excited for). I just think the best route would have been the slower one and them rushing up all this stuff feels like them wanting to CATCH up with Marvel. Not to be better than them but just to be there
Sorry, but I stop reading any comments that use the phrase “catch up to Marvel”
That is fine if you do that and I am just assuming obviously. Yet (imo) that is the only reason this movie was stuffed with so much stuff. They wanted to get the Justice League out fast (which is the Avengers equivalent really). I think if they took their time and made this movie either just a MoS sequel or just about Batman v Superman + the destruction stuff and fleshed that more out it would have been better.
Not saying I didnt like the movie. I was enjoying watching it and I will watch it again. Still I am not fond of them blowing Doomsday and the death of superman storyline like that without much build up
I loved it, so, thank you Zack Snyder! I think of it as Dawn of Justice rather than Batman v Superman and the Justice League cameos were great, especially the Knightmare! It chilled my bones! Injuctice meets Darkseid War! The critics need to read some comics! But I think that the R-Rated version will be fantastic!
This movie is phenomenal. It’s heart breaking and infuriating reading the critic reviews. I don’t understand where all of the hate is coming from. Since day 1 This movie has gotten more hate than anything. I believe in Snyder and I believe in the dceu. Did this movie change things? Absolutely. Was there a lot going on? Sure. Was I glued to my seat for the entire 2.5 hrs? You bet your sweet ass I was. No other comic-book movie has filled me with so much emotion. Was it perfection? No. But I can’t wait to see it again and again and again. And to me that means this movie was pretty damn good. My main issue was trying to keep up at the beginning. I wasn’t enjoying the way the movie kept jumping around. That is until I realized it was like watching comic book pages come to life. Mind blown! We love you Zack.
Because I had a “phenomenal” time watching it.
Fu** whatever cinema snob explanation you were looking for.
Now stop trying to correct people’s opinions D-Bag.
How was it not?? This movie was beautiful. No movie is perfect. But personally, I loved it. No disrespect to Marvel but loved that it wasn’t a feel good “Marvel movie”. That isn’t DC and Zack understands that. Zack had A LOT to accomplish with this film and I think he nailed it. I felt genuine fear, excitement, confusion and even teared up a little for Superman. There are so many things that people are saying were just “shoehorned” in. Which in reality, all they really were were gifts. They were just for us and he is getting crucified for that. I feel like of what this movie was was fan service and I respect him for that. Rotten Tomatoes and other critics that are bashing this movie can kiss my ass with their 30%. That’s insane. Batman v Superman has made me proud to be a DC fanboy.
Beautiful, but not focused & sensible. Have you even looked at the plot holes?? No you did not, because your eyes were feasting on those huge epic action shots, so your mind was busy their. Making good use of comic arcs is clearly missing in this movie as they over-stuff the movie with everything they could to get people hyped & deceive them with cool shots. Do you even know how impactful the doomsday arc could be if superman was more developed??? No, they made it like they don’t even care for superman!! He just needs to be whatever they want him for the plot!! That’s lazy, stupid & totally disrespectful!! -_- Affleck was pretty good though, there were a little emotion, humor & surprise they desperately tried to deliver, but you can clearly see they were trying too hard, making it feel out of place sometimes & making the pace a bit off. So the movie falls short almost everywhere else.
I don’t disagree with you entirely. I know there are plot holes and I am irritated and heartbroken with how they handled supes. But I have faith that there is reason and purpose for the choices they’ve made. I absolutely wish they would have saved doomsday. That should have been its own movie years down the road. But with everyone they have watching over this property, I have to believe that they know what they are doing and that there is reason for the madness.
Yes, that’s what I was talking about. But how they shrinked down all these amazing stories to jampack them in one hyping movie is kind of going after money & disrespecting the characters in it. So I can’t say that I’m not a little concerned about the creative helm & I don’t want attitude like this from them to continue.
It was very good, Affleck, Cavill, and Gadot killed it, the rest sere very good maybe Eisenberg went a bit cartoony at several times, I really liked it. the only problem to me, is that there were too concerned about setting what’s next, and sometimes that affects the focus of the film, I consider that Doomsday was completely unnecessary, now they need something for them to fight together at the end I supossed, but instead of doomsday the could have gone with a Metalllo version or a cyborg superman version. Doomsday was a good choice for a superman solo but after justice league like a phase 2 villain for superman. If you wanna go with Doomsday you need to go with Brainiac, Metallo, Bizarro, Darkseid, etc. And then the only guy who killed the man of steel. it was way too early for Doomsday
Henry Cavill speaks the absolute truth. I don’t think I could word it better than he did. Like its the fans that matter here. Critics support would be great but its not what matters in the end. In the end they made a movie they want fans and audiences to enjoy. Not a select few people.
Here’s the real problem with that. Critics are fans too. How dare any of us to put down their opinions. Opinions that are most of the time not only valid, but in a few weeks time (after people have seen the movie and taken it in) will be the vast majority of what the opinion is and will always be. I have no allegiance for Marvel or DC. I want movies to be good, because who the hell wants a bad movie. But let’s face facts: WB wanted a shared universe; they wanted it their own way – dark and brooding; and at every turn they rushed the story and characters while diminishing the brand (albeit not completely or may even a lot) of these superheros they so desperately want to build up. But it’s okay. So what? Snyder made a bad film. He apparently created a film that is too long and too short; not narratively focused enough; cramming into too much bc the studio asked that of him; and couldn’t just do some of this leg work in justice part 1 instead. It’s okay, bc hopefully third time is a charm for him in this universe (said sarcastically). Oh, and just to bring it around to the fan thoughts and what they enjoyed. The overwhelming thing that the “fans” were jazz about was the entrance of wonder woman. That’s it. Are you kidding me? When the best thing you can say about a movie is an entrance of a character, that’s a pretty underwhelming movie in my opinion. But I guess that’s what the fans want to enjoy.
It wouldn’t be the first time critics didn’t like a film that fans and audiences ended up liking. The overall point is to wait until major audiences have actually seen the film overall. Like he said, end of the weekend. Then you can know what everyone thinks. People should make their own opinion on the movie. Not saying the critics are wrong or even bad. Just that they are like you said, fans too. They are people, same as everyone. Overall when it comes down to it the opinions of a few people aren’t what will decide if it was a successful and/or good movie or not. It’ll be the opinions of the majority of people. It may be good or bad but its unfair to judge a movie based on just critic reviews without taking overall audience opinions into account.
“will be the vast majority of what the opinion is and will always be”
Right, that’s why there was NO disparity between critical scores and audience scores on Man of Steel. ;-)
Yeah! The fans and the general audience is what matters. If the critics like it, good. It’s a nice bonus. But if they hate it, who cares.. Like I said. The audience matter here.
God damn it. I wish they could read all the great things we said about the movie. People just gravitate more to negativity. Shame.
I honestly feel sorry for Zack, I mean imagine putting your heart and soul into making a film then watching it get panned by critics
On one hand I feel for the guy, and as a DC fan I know I’m going to geek out, but on the other hand,
Film making 101 man. #1 rule, the story is king, and it sounds like yours is all over the place.
I don’t think the movie was as good as it looked in the trailers, but man, this is borderline bullying.
I feel so bad for them, specially Ben and Henry.
I really like… I mean, I love the movie!!! Specially some things that I wasn’t expecting at all.
Maybe make a good movie next time
I loved the movie. That is what matters to me.
Just watched it for the second time. I freakin love this movie! All of it. Everyone needs to take a breath and stop reading reviews. Go watch the movie for yourself. Twice. You need the second viewing to really take everything in. Let go of everything and just enjoy the movie. Zack Snyder has done a wonderful job and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
I didn’t have to watch it twice I wanted to watch it twice. I’m going to watch it several times because I enjoy it and want to support the film. I’m going to have to disagree with you Rich. It’s more than just a superhero movie.
7/10 for me i posted it earlier could have been 9/10 with some changes.
No humor whatsoever.
Ben Affleck looks like he’s thinking ‘what have I done’ – poor guy, he gave the movie his all and it shows.
“Everyone is praising your performance.”
What a bold-faced lie! One of the most common threads through the reviews has been how annoying his performance is.
Fanboying is not an uncommon thing & not necessarily a bad thing. But those fanboying around this movie are praising all out how epic looking the movie is. Yes! That’s what Zack Snyder does best, creating epic beautiful shots! But what else?? Almost everywhere else it falls short. Tell me, has any fanboy told you yet that the movie has great plot holes & it’s over-stuffed with things that are their for the sake of getting people hyped & scattering the story?? That’s clearly lazy script writing! Lot of things there that don’t make sense & don’t even need to be in this particular movie. You could’ve seen them gradually through any other focused attempt! And by cramming all this things together, do you know how many great parts of the comic counterpart arcs you’ve missed?? Well they’ve done it in this almost three hour jampacked movie!! You can never see a well adapted focused version of these arcs ever again possibly!! Get that through your head, understand what is wrong, don’t go around all out fanboying this movie & making their future movie qualities even lowered. They’ll give you lazily written eye candies in return!! Do you want that??? If you do, well, shame on you as a fan!! Like what’s good in the movie. Don’t f***ing fanboy around it for your own good. Open your eyes & mind.
Damn I hope he pulls of Justice League so he can be like, look it was a set back and we can regroup
