Marvel Studios is once again kicking off the Super Bowl commercial chatter with a television spot for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 airing just before the big game. Now we can enjoy all of the super expensive Super Bowl footage and more online!
Marvel also did this for Captain America: Civil War last year. Airing the spot before the game certainly helps Marvel Studios get a head start on the social media conversation. It probably shaves a few bucks of the $5 million price tag for a 30-second Super Bowl spot as well, so count that as both smart and relatively shrewd marketing.
To those of us who don’t have to fork over the cash, this spot is worth every penny. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is one of the most anticipated movies of the year for mainstream moviegoers, not just Marvel fans.
