The fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ended with Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) living out his final days with Melinda May (Ming Na). Mack (Henry Simmons) was set to take over as team’s new director, setting up a new status quo that fans may never see because the series had not been renewed when the season finale was written.
The series was eventually renewed, begging the question as to whether or not Coulson would somehow survive and return to action. In the first teaser for the upcoming sixth season, it does not sound like Coulson could be saved, but that does not mean we’ve seen the last of Clark Gregg.
