This movie really surprised me. I wasn’t expecting much since this movie had a slew of production problems. I went into the theatre looking for some okay comedy with just mild, cliched story about a (let’s face it) pretty lame superhero. But I found a a movie full of laughs and a great, smart story. I really enjoyed it and am even comparing it to guardians of the Galaxy.

My kids loved the humor in the movie. For me I thought the plot was thin and the villain was underdeveloped, The female lead was weak and frankly unlikeable. Michael Douglas seemed in it for the pay check. Paul Rudd was good and his supporting group of thieves were a highlight.
The CGI ants looked like CGI ants. It would have been better if the movie had just ignored that aspect of Ant-man’s power and didn’t use ants at all.
I agree with what you said about the beginning being paced kind of weird. That said, once it got going it was great. I went in with average expectations, and was impressed. The Falcon v Ant Man part was hilarious and there were some great moments/one-liners that made me laugh out loud which i never do in theaters. I really look forward to seeing the wasp as well. IDK i could talk about it for a while, but overall it was well worth the money and i’m tempted to go again.
Really enjoyed it. I went in with reasonably low expectations and came out pleasantly surprised. Not quite as fun a GOTG but was definitely one of the better Marvel films. Michael Pena was the highlight of the film along with the rest of Scott Langs crew! The villain suffered from the same issue the rest of the Marvel films have had though in that he was very under developed, although the final scenes between him and Ant Man were great to watch!
