The next “Avengers” adventure will exist as one movie, not a previously announced two, Walt Disney said on Friday.
The studio will release “Avengers: Infinity War” as planned on May 4, 2018. What was slated to be the second part in that story, “Avengers: Infinity War Part II,” has now been renamed as an “Untitled Avengers” project.

This is honestly a bit worrying for me…it feels like the Thanos story is kind of huge? Also, how are they going to resolve everything that got built up since 2008 in like one 2 hour film? I don’t mind the idea of dividing it up into a two-parter just because I feel as though that would allow for the most elbow room to resolve everything and check in on every character involved adequately. I dunno y’all…. I’mma still watch it tho… I’mma still go.

Except the article you link to just says that the title for the second movie has been changed and doesn’t state outright that the Infinity War storyline will be contained in just one movie. It’s still possible it’s a 2 part story, except that the second movie has it’s own title.

Oh God please just let them use Thanos correctly. Someone has to die. Like a main Avenger. Not a new one they introduce for 20 mins and then kill off. I need to feel that there are consequences and that these heroes are in real danger. I want to fear Thanos. So far, only Winter Soldier has captivated what a proper villain is. Every other villain, including Loki, is impossible to take seriously given they never actually accomplish anything.

I knew the Russo Bros had said that Part 1 + Part 2 was misleading, quite a while back, but I expected them to change it to Infinity Gauntlet & Infinity War. If first one is sticking with War, then second will be.. [a] The Celestials return, to reclaim the Infinity Stones, or [b] Adam. Magus.

The more I think about it, the more I like the Adam Magus idea. We know “She” is going to be in GotG Vol2, so either that ends with Adam Warlock being found, or Him in an after credits sequence. He then helps in Infinity War, only to become Magus at the end, meaning The Avengers/GotG have to team-up with Thanos, to fight Magus in the now untitled Avengers 4.
That or: Bucky will be the New Cap by then > They have access to Spidey > Netflix has Luke, Jessica & Danny > Add in a cross-franchise deal with Fox (for access to the new Wolverine/X-23 > aaaaaaand we have: The New Avengers. (I can dream, can’t I?! ;D)
