Steven Spielberg’s recent doomsday prediction that “there will be a time when the superhero movie goes the way of the Western” got many a fanboy’s spandex in a bunch. Ahead of our chat, in an interview earlier in the day, Snyder responded to Spielberg’s comments—and when I brought it up, he was flabbergasted that the Internet had already jumped all over the brewing debate. “That was this morning!” he exclaimed, before jovially admitting that Spielberg might be right while throwing some playful shade at the competition.
“It goes to the mythological nature of the movies that we’re making,” he said. “I feel like he’s right. But I feel like Batman and Superman are transcendent of superhero movies in a way, because they’re Batman and Superman. They’re not just, like, the flavor of the week Ant-Man—not to be mean, but whatever it is. What is the next Blank-Man?”

Not to be a douche, but I kinda agree with him. Marvel has pushed out some excellent films, Iron Man, Captain America Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy but the rest, really is just ‘flavor of the week’. They’re fun and entertaining but honestly, I don’t seem myself going back to any of the Thor films or Avengers.

Why not compare his “transcendent” characters with Captain America then. Ant Man? What the fuck is he thinking? Well, don’t use Darkseid in a League film,Zack. Jack Kirby created him. Snyder is a colossal fucking moron.

He’s right though. Marvel fanboys can spit on DC all they want, but, no superhero movie will reach BvS. Maybe JLA..
I like Marvel, and their movies have been ”copy-paste” a bit. And this whole thing with Perlmutter leaving, confirms that. I’m glad Feige is going to have more liberty with his movies. All we want are, not good, but great comic-book movies.
Also, Snyder seems pretty confident to say these things. Looks like BvS is turning out great in post.-
I believe ya MIGHT want to consider all the DC fans that cannot stand Snyder. Do you think for one minute that the critical bashing on imdb and Rotten Tomatoes were solely written by “Marvel Fanboys”? Adults and kids fell asleep during the repeated expository dialogue and non-characterization. Snyder basically re-booted the Donner/Reeves epic with a boring script. I’m not sure that having a film that ends by Clark making out with Lois on top of a pile of bodies transcends anything. He’s one colossal lame-ass director. He’s a total pussy. I believe comparing his film to Winter Soldier might be a bit more ballsy,Zack. Ant-Man? Really?
