Black Panther is making more history tonight. The 18th Marvel Studios film is just the second live-action superhero movie ever to receive a very rare “A+” CinemaScore from audiences.
The first? Marvel Studios’ The Avengers in 2012.

I’m sorry but these extremely high scores are in large part, politically motivated. I mean, we have people saying if you don’t like Black Panther, you’re a racist. Is it any surprise people feel obliged to virtue-signal how good this film is?
It’s probably a good film, like any MCU is (most of the time). It’s also probably very generic, formulaic, irrelevant and a bit shallow. Not saying this to demean the films. But it’s no secret Kevin Feige and the MCU have thrived under this formulaic method. No fucking way this movie is better than something like TDK.
Totally relevant but in the opposite direction. Spoiler alert it’s almost ironically right leaning propaganda rather than left
Funny thing is, people are praising this movie because Wakanda is a black, isolationist, nationalist setting. They correlate this with “black power” or some bullshit like that.
You have Buzzfeed saying bs like “Black Panther is a movie about BLACK people in their BLACK country, controlling their BLACK properties, and having power over their BLACK nation with their BLACK resources” (something along those lines).
Really, this is the Alt-Right argument in a nutshell. Seriously, replace “black” with “white” and you have what the Alt-Right is advocating for in America. It’s so hypocritical and the double standard bothers me way more than it should.
Ha! And the sympathetic bad guy is parallel to young black guys that go militant, whether it be in the black panthers like my brother in law or Muslim like his friends. I hate that stuff for what it’s done to my sister and him. They’re crazy! And racist!
It’s leftist because Black Panther knew Killmonger was right, he just didn’t deserve to lead.
I’ll say it has right leaning and left leaning elements, even contradictory ones.
True. A bit reminiscent of Dark Knight Rises.
Right? I mean we know the director’s intentions, and I’m sure most of this stuff won’t matter to the bulk of the audience, but I saw it. Still liked it a lot.
This is why I don’t trust critics anymore, Avengers wasn’t an A+ and neither is this.
Going by RT score isn’t the same as reading a review. BP is definitely top tier CBM
It’s better than Batman Begins, tho.
