Black Panther has done it. The 18th Marvel Studios film has earned over $1 billion at the global box office. Until now, no standalone superhero franchise had ever made $1 billion with its very first film. Just add that to the list of the many firsts and records Black Panther has claimed.

That’s crazy. I didn’t find the Blank Panther to be a good movie. The story was thrown together, sloppily trying to make a huge buildup with the villain(s), both of which made no sense and were anticlimactic. The first half was like watching the Lion King, and the second half was just a bunch of bad CGI action scenes. The only scene worth noting was the Casino.

Except for the fact that, prior to his standalone, BP got introduced in Civil War, & Wakanda in AoU. So it isn’t the same. At all.

I see your point but it’s a little unfair. Wonder Woman was given the same caveats, so I’m not sure what you consider a standalone superhero franchise debut.
