We got word last night that Alec Baldwin will join the cast of Todd Phillips’ Joker prequel/origin story flick. Baldwin will be playing Thomas Wayne, who may or may not be portrayed in this 1980s-set flick as a greasy “Donald Trump-like” figure. This led to speculation that this proverbial Elseworld will reveal that Bruce Wayne’s dad cheated on his mom and that Bruce and the man who would be Joker will be revealed to be brothers in an Austin Powers: Goldmember/Spectre-style twist that will surprise absolutely no one. If I seem to be rolling my eyes a little bit, it’s because this all feels like the makings of another Solo-type flameout.
Box office: ‘Joker’ may suffer same fate as ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’

From Forbes? Well, I’ve read enough to know this story’s probably garbage.

Ok it is a movie that is literally over a fucking year out why tf are people making assumptions about movie performance now? What a retard.

Hmmm… a movie with a superfluous story in the DCverse with DeNiro and Baldwin (2 huge crybabies), with rumors of an anti-Trump bent of a character. It will fail. When will DC learn? 1) Stay away from politically charged messages or persons and 2) make the movie relevant! This movie will flop worse than a dead fish on a pier. Normally I love any superhero movie and will watch anything in the genre (even the horrible B grade Pumaman), but I will gladly skip this and help social media bury this egg.

I can appreciate what he’s getting at but I think it will do better than people think – especially because the budget is considerably smaller and hasn’t met the director woes Solo did
Who knows if it will be good but it’s attracted an impressive cast that will also be a draw for people. I think it will be different enough to actually stand out, based on what’s been let out about

Scott Mendelson is the author who ironically looks like the Joker in his profile pic. Sick fuck
