I’m sorry, but there’s no way in hell Captain Marvel ever meant anything to her (and to be clear, I think that’s completely fine). Why do actors, especially women, always feel like their “strong female characters” need to “represent” or “inspire” someone (and with someone, I mean, young girls)? Seriously, do you really think Jason Mamoa gave a single fuck about the character of Aquaman growing up? No. And I’m not saying he should have, I’m saying that’s the truth. He’s obviously excited about the film, but he’s not pushing a painfully unoriginal opinion we’ve heard a fucking billion times before. Why is it, when there’s a physically capable female character, this somehow “HAS TO” inspire girls? What the fuck is it with this crazy af pandering? News flash, girls don’t give a shit. Just like Mamoa isn’t saying “I hope I inspire young boys”, I have never ever understood why actresses think their fictional character – whom I, as a man, have loved way more than they ever will – will automatically inspire “mainly” young girls. Just give us a good movie with good characters. Stop pretending you actually cared, and please… stop with the unnecessary political pandering. It’s fake, and everyone knows it.

I didn’t know, but that just confirms my point, really… All these actresses (and actors too tbh) working in Hollywood have the same unoriginal, delusional, stupid and baseless social justice feminist “opinions”. She’s a great actress and I’m glad she’s playing the part, but I could really do without the shallow virtuesignalling crap.

She says nothing in the quote about her character inspiring other girls just about what it means to her. Though I do agree I highly doubt she picked up many of any Captain Marvel books before taking on the role.
I am a woman and I somewhat agree with the general idea of what you are saying or at least what I took from your comment, I don’t care what these actors male or female personal beliefs are I go to watch movies to be entertained and maybe take something away from it.
I will say this though being a woman who loves comics you are looked at strangely by some people not all just some though admittedly that has changed a lot since the MCU began firing on all cylinders and suddenly nearly every dog and his man are comic book movie fans, so it is nice for myself to see huge comic book movies coming out with women lead heroes in them.
Also to the above comment she is not an SJW, she does hold certain opinions yes but she is nowhere near as crazy as the fake activists who moan on twitter but do nothing to real life to change anything who call themselves SJW’s.-

Yes, my point was that I don’t care about the opinions of ignorant millionaires, but also, I just don’t understand the needless pandering. Why is it necessary? They don’t do it for boys. Why do it for girls? Literally not one male superhero actor has ever said “I hope I inspire young boys”. It doesn’t happen. So why treat girls differently? People act as though women are so weak and frail, that they “need” fictional characters to feel good about themselves. Who cares? Why should or could girls “only” relate to female heroes? Since when does gender dictate who a person is? What happened to judging people based on the merit of their characters?
What I’m saying is, everything these celebs and their opinions stand for, goes completely against everything I believe in. It’s regressive and antithetical to treating people the same regardless of gender. I personally give zero shits about “more female heroes”. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not against it, but I don’t see why this is a necessity either. It’s funny because no one seems to be complaining about female underrepresentation for movie criminals. “We want more female psychopaths and female rapists in movies!!!” – this does not happen. I wonder why…
Just give me good characters (male, female, black, white, I don’t care) and a good movie. That’s all I ask for.
