“Civil War,” which began its international run on April 27, topped the $940 million mark in worldwide box office on Sunday. By the end of this week, it should become the 25th title to exceed $1 billion, and the seventh superhero title after “The Avengers” ($1.52 billion), “Avengers: Age of Ultron” ($1.41 billion), “Iron Man 3” ($1.22 billion), “The Dark Knight Rises” ($1.09 billion) and “The Dark Knight” ($1.04 billion).

You can’t just use the excuse that DC is only two movies in or that CW was released more than a week and a half ago.
DC was using the two most iconic superheroes ever, I don’t think being 2 movies in vs Marvel’s 10+ or so matters as much as you think. Batman and Superman are more well known than any of the Marvel heroes aside from Spider-man (who only had a cameo). Also these movies aren’t topping the first Avengers’ success. So it’s not like the more films they make the greater the returns.
BvS didn’t make in 8 weeks (releasing in all territories at once) what CW made in less than 3 (releasing in territories on separate dates). It still destroyed BvS.
BvS also had a higher budget than CW so it’s even more unexcused that BvS is going to make significantly less.-
I’d also add, Batman (arguably a bigger brand then even Kent) is played by A-list, globally known, Ben Affleck.
Although I haven’t seen the movie, I heard Diana’s cameo essentially the equal time as Spider-man’s in CW.

I’m not making any excuses, I’m merely pointing out that the Disney/Marvel v WB/DC bullshit isn’t as clear cut at the box office as some seem to think. Like the huge drop off in BvS second week at the box office, than was only in America, not worldwide and less that Civil War’s (74%). Look up the 50%+ drop off on every superhero movie, others in the 60% bracket, it’s what happens, but BvS was battered for it
I like both franchises and fanboys from both sides get on my tits, with their idiotic comments that have no bearing on facts. I fully accept that BvS underperformed, but that’s different from doing badly

I hate to use stuff like “facts” to spoil a good story, but almost every movie drops by more than 50% in the second week, including Marvel films.
In fact Civil War is beating BvS in that score too… 74%

The other thing that I think makes a difficult comparison of the two movies (truthfully I HATE that people are even comparing them) is the release dates. BvS was released worldwide on the same day, some the drop off percentage is global.
Civil War was released in various locations over a period of a couple weeks. Is the Forbes or any stat strictly for US (which makes a comparison with BvS percentage even less)? What if the stat is as we stand now globally, 3-4 weeks into Civil War’s release (which means a comparison with BvS should be the same timeframe)?

It would be difficult to get a worldwide drop of for almost any film, the only people that care about these things, (other than nerds using them to bash each other with) are studio execs and the market the care most about is North America. I do know that the 69% BvS drop wasn’t worldwide… We’re much less demanding of instant gratification

Hopefully there isn’t a report here of a 74% drop. That would appear to be an account of the facts.

Reading the articles, Forbes is doing a Friday to Friday comparison, where as the 59% is from weekend to weekend
