A fan on Twitter shared a photo of some concept art (pictured above) that he saw at the DC Exhibition in the UK. He tagged director Zack Snyder and cinematographer Larry Fong, and Fong replied. “We originally planned on filming there but then were told the buildings were going to be demolished.”

A fan on Vero posted the Batman v Superman photo above and said that he never noticed the crosses in the background before. Zack Snyder replied and said, “that’s a reference to Justice League 2”. He then added “until it wasn’t,” likely referring to the movie’s cancellation.

In the concept art above, you can see that Metallo was considered for Batman v Superman at one point. My best guess is this is from the version of the script that David Goyer wrote, before Chris Terrio came in and rewrote the movie and it became “Dawn of Justice”.
