Vincent D’Onofrio has been set to reprise as Wilson Fisk for the third season of Daredevil, I’ve learned. As the Kingpin crime lord, the Emmy nominee was the main villain in Season 1 of the Netflix series and made an imprisoned appearance in last year’s Season 2. The ex-Law & Order actor hinted to fans recently that official word on his Daredevil return was in the cards with a banner photo of the Fisk character up on his Twitter page.
In Addition to D’Onofrio’s return, Erik Oleson will be taking over as showrunner as things gear up on the New York City set of the Charlie Cox-led series. Marvel and Netflix haven’t announced a launch date for Daredevil‘s Season 3 — nor for Jessica Jones or Luke Cage’s second seasons for that matter.

I love Daredevil, but I’ve never loved Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin. He just seems so whiny and easily triggered. And I just don’t buy his whole “lower voice, I’m important” facade. They also didn’t explain his motivations all that well. Why does he do what he do? “Because he wants to make NY a better place”. Ok, but why? They showed his dad, but that’s not motivation. That’s exposition as to why he became a psycho. Exactly why is he destroying NY? And what was he hoping to achieve? They never actually tell you this. So for me, the whole character just falls flat. I much preferred Punisher in S2.

Yea but at the end of DD S1 it was revealed that he doesn’t give a shit about making New York a quote on quote better place anymore, he just wants it to burn in its filth. And one of my absolute favorite moments in Daredevil Season 2 was the face to face showdown between Matt and Fisk in prison, and also his rise to power and how easily he strategical rose to the top in prison. That’s hinting that we are getting the real Kingpin.
