Deadpool 2 faces the challenge of living up to a wildly successful (and beloved) first film. We will have to wait until May 18 to see how Deadpool 2 meets that challenge in terms of quality, but its financial prospects already show some drop-off, if initial projections are to be believed.

I mean, it makes sense. Infinity War will be at it’s 3rd week of release when this comes out. Anyone who’s smart would know that, even at it’s 3rd week, Infinity War of course will take a small but noticeable chunk of box office revenue away from DP2. I still have high hopes it could be better than the original but the original’s box office opening was a “lightning in a bottle” type of situation where it had little to no competition around it to make all that dough.
