The line for Disney’s Jungle Cruise just got longer. The film, which stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, has moved from October 11, 2019, to July 24, 2020. Johnson officially announced the news on social media.
The move takes Jungle Cruise off of a weekend that wasn’t too kind to First Man this year and away from WB/DC’s Joker (October 4, 2019), which could be an even bigger hit than Venom. It also puts Jungle Cruise in summer blockbuster territory, which is often good to Johnson, but not always a slam dunk.

Jungle Cruise is currently set to go up against an untitled animated picture from Sony and an untitled DC movie from Warner Bros. It’s hard to blame Disney for not respecting a DC movie date that, based on recent history, is likely to be abandoned by WB. It’s not like there will be a Flash movie ready for that date.
Disney also needed a late July 2020 blockbuster after Marvel Studios dropped an untitled July 31 release from their calendar.
