Comcast kicked off the bidding war for 21st Century Fox last week and Disney is trying to end it today. Disney has increased their offer for most of 21st Century Fox from $52.4B to a staggering $71.3B. Disney’s latest offer comes in well over Comcast’s $65B all-cash proposal last week.
Fox has publicly endorsed Disney’s new proposal over Comcast’s. Fox Executive Chairman said as much in a statement released today.
For those who think Disney wants Fox mainly because if the comic book characters, you’re wrong. This isn’t about the comic book stuff. Disney and Comcast both want Fox mainly for Hulu so they can compete with Netflix. Hulu is by far and away the real reason both of these companies are fighting to buy out Fox.
Very possible. But that completely depends on what investors are looking for in this exchange. In the short run, an all cash offer would probably be more appealing than a half and half trade. It completely depends on what they value more. A quick payout or a long term financial investment. As it is right now, they could go with either but I definitely think that a Disney offer of higher value than 71.3 billion would be more appealing than a higher offer by Comcast.
