Why do people act like they don’t get this argument? Comics are a visual medium last time I checked. We all know what these characters are supposed to look like. Doesn’t mean it has to be exact, but we should be able to look and see oh, I can see it.

Sorry dude, but comics are as much a written medium as a visual one- Stan Lee even said so. I’d rather read a comic with good writing and bad art (Birthright) over a comic with bad writing and good art (ASBAR).

Christian Bale looked nothing like the typical square jawed, chiselled featured or broad shouldered Bruce Wayne of every comic/cartoon/film ever. Yet he still knocked it out the park and proved that these stories are character driven, and not purely superficial. It’s such a 90’s mindset for the ‘be all and end all’ of a character to be in their appearance. I assume your displeasure at his casting comes from his Eurasian ethnic traits. Obviously, he has a very unique look which it would be crazy to think they specifically sought after, which means he must have delivered an incredible character audition. However, in my opinion, his physicality is perfect for the flash – almost comic-like frame, big flash mouth, sharp facial features, alternatively handsome. The Flash is suppose to be unconventional and charismatic, not some jock type all american hero and Ezra certainly embodies the ‘brilliantly audacious misfit’ archetype with a youthful energy.

While the stickler in me would hope and prefer Ezra to be blond as Barry Allen, it’s hard not to get excited purely from his excitement. So hair colour be damned, Ezra will be a fun and unique addition to the DCEU
