Meet Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch in Assassin’s Creed.
Based on the massively popular — and prolific — video-game series of the same name, the movie version is set to open in theaters Dec. 21, 2016.
Before hardcore Assassin’s Creed gamers start scratching their heads (and filling up the comments) about how exactly Callum Lynch fits into the game world, we can tell you that Fassbender’s character was created specifically for the film. (The movie isn’t retelling any of the existing games, but rather introducing new characters into the same world.)

Wow this came out of nowhere, with no tease or build up.
I gotta say, I think their decision to introduce a new character is really clever, meaning they probably won’t try to somehow mold one of the games’ characters’ stories into a movie.
I honestly expected him to play Altair or Ezio. I could see him pulling off both but a new character will work and that way fans won’t have to compare a movie version character to a game’s version.
On the actual outfit, I think it looks solid. It’s not too over-the-top and I actually prefer this simplicity over a crazy Hollywood attempt to recreate the game’s costumes. The torso bit looks a little bit like a rug but other than that, this first look of the film is a positive indication for me.

Looks dope. I like that they didn’t make it cosplay-ish with over the top colors or baubles. Looks grounded and historical.
