Marvel Studios has a contender. A day after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 advanced to the next round of the visual effects Oscar® race, we now learn that the film remains in contention for makeup and hairstyling. The James Gunn film is in competition with six other movies to be listed as a final nominee and, potentially, the eventual winner.
The first Guardians of the Galaxy was also nominated for makeup and hairstyling in 2014. The film lost to The Grand Budapest Hotel and GotG Vol. 2 may also have to hope for the honor of just being nominated while not taking home the gold, as the competition is fierce.
