“We do have a couple of characters who are very important to the Marvel Universe who are going to make their debut in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which people don’t know about,” he revealed. “Sylvester Stallone plays one of these characters…my friend Michael Rosenbaum also has a pretty decent movie in the role as well and it sort of works in tandem with Sly’s character.”

Stallone was both added & talked about, the same time as Kurt Russell.
Garthaan Saal (Stallone) brings the Power Stone (which, after guarding it, has given the Nova Corps access to its power/the Nova Force), to Earth, to hide it from an approaching Thanos (we don’t have to see Thanos).
Being set upon, on approaching Earth, he uses the stone to defeat his attackers, causing him to go Supernova/Nova-Omega. The stone, sensing somebody it believes worthy to carry it, heads planet-side to find Richard Rider (Rosenbaum).
