“I cannot even begin to express how proud I am that Marvel and everyone involved in the production has decided to be the first to shoot on our WEAPON 8K,” Jarred Land, President of RED Digital Cinema said in the press release. The film, especially after the surprise success of the first one, is “a huge affirmation” in the new technology, he added.
Executive producer Nikolas Korda worked with two previous RED cameras on Prometheus and The Legend of Tarzan. He said, “The large sensor size and super high resolution offered by the new WEAPON 8K, combined with its lightweight and compact size open up a whole range of new creative possibilities.”

RED cameras are garbage. I’m using one as a doorstop. And it’s compressed data, not true 8,6, or even 4K. They keep pawning there marketing bullshit onto people that don’t know cameras. The best digital motion picture camera in the world, used on Star Wars, The Revenant, Captain America:Civil War, Planet of the Apes 3, and many more, is without question, the ARRI Alexa65.
