It’s fair to say that Warner Bros.’ DC Comics movie universe has stumbled out of the starting blocks in 2016—both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad have been met with tepid reviews by both fans and critics.
For Warner Bros., which announced an ambitious slate of superhero movies springboarding from the presumed success of Batman v Superman back in 2014, there must be some sweaty palms as it moves onto Justice League, an Avengers -like team-up movie, and Wonder Woman in 2017.
Two people with a vested interest in the direction of WB’s DC Comics world are Hollywood star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his producing partner and manager, Dany Garcia. In 2014, Johnson announced he will star as villain (some might say anti-hero) Black Adam in 2019’s Shazam! , based on the superhero previously known as Captain Marvel. But aside from the odd expression of enthusiasm from the actor here and there, not much more is known about the film. That is until now.
How ‘Shazam!’ movie will build on Warner Bros.’ recent DC Comics misfires

lOl at these pathetic fucks acting like bvs and ss were “misfires”

The budgets and marketing costs were what they were for BvS and Suicide Squad but for the love of god, why does the actual GENERATED box office for the DCEU (including MOS) not get any recognition?? Yes, I will concede that when we talk about PROFIT from the films, it’s probably true that WB might have expected more however the amount of money GENERATED for these films shows without a doubt that there is a HUGE fanbase for the DCEU. FFS I don’t understand this!

Not a single one of these movies has made any kind of special ammount of money. BvS made a lot for any kind of film, but it’s budget was way too inflated at the end of the day, and it didn’t make much for WB. A movie like it should have made over a billion dollars, easily.

Why is this so hard to understand?

Soooo….they’re gonna try to make a financially successful, non-divisive/controversial comic book movie, that most of the fans AND critics, will like? Yay! (sarcasm) LOL I hate that ratings from Rotten Tomatoes, get to determine the overall perception of these DC films. But making big-budget movies that are entertaining enough NOT to bomb at the box-office, is the most important thing. And it’s a hell of an accomplishment!
2006’s Superman Returns and 2011’s Green Lantern, were “misfires”. BvS and Suicide Squad have generated a lot of money, and broken box-office records.

A lot of money? Breaking records means nothing. What it makes at the end of it’s run does.

You realize that the amount of money a movie generates doesn’t bail it out from being a bad movie right? Ok awesome

You can like a movie, and you can even love it, but don’t just state that opinion as if it were a fact. It isn’t, it wasn’t and it will never be a masterpiece. You need to start seeing these movies as movies, not as comic books with real people in them.

Lol

Sure, if you have only ever watched dc movies (minus Donner’s Superman, Burton’s Batman, Nolan’s TDK trilogy, or V for Vendetta)…
I love Man of Steel, but as a movie it is not, by a long shot.

Yeah, they’ll pile on by making it worse

Ok, so we have the Rock as Black Adam. When are we going to get Shazam cast? He should be the star, seeing it’s called Shazam.
