“Upgrade” director Leigh Whannell has signed on to direct a reboot of “The Invisible Man.” The project reunites Whannell with Jason Blum, who is producing the Universal Pictures movie through his Blumhouse banner.
The move is part of a fresh strategy for Universal’s monsters properties, bringing creative directors with distinctive visions to the classic characters.
Huge missed opportunity. But they went about the whole thing wrong from the very beginning. I think it could have been something if they had taken a better approach. Modern day setting is just flat out bad for these monsters. They are scary in their time and place but today just no.
1920s, 30s that sort of time. Go for scary with just a dash of adventure slowly added to the mix. Let the monsters be freaking evil. Dracula perhaps building an alliance of all the evil creatures in the world. Lots of ways to go with it but anything other than a sepia colored view is just pointless.
