Production is now officially underway on Star Wars: Episode IX. Director J.J. Abrams shared the first behind-the-scenes photo from the set this morning.
Billed as the final chapter in the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters December 2019.

I don’t even know what SWNN is, lol.
I thought TFA played it way too safe and was too much of a carbon copy of A New Hope, plus I couldn’t stand the forced political nonsense that plagued the film. I also absolutely hated Rey being a Mary Sue.
Despite the fact that many complained about a political agenda with TLJ, I thought it was but a fraction of the political nonsense TFA was infested with, so it didn’t bother me as much. Rey was still a Mary Sue, but not to the insane extent that she was in TFA. That being said, TLJ is just a poorly constructed film with 3 plots (Rey training with Luke, Poe and Leia saving the “Resistance” and Finn and token Asian diversity checklist character doing their own thing), 2 of which were absolute garbage and didn’t even pay off in the end. And the first one being severely flawed. Not to mention Luke dying??? Kidding me???
What I hate the most about these new films is they have no soul nor purpose. TFA completely destroys what Return of the Jedi achieved narratively speaking. It’s as if, after watching TFA, that Return wasn’t so much winning the war, as it was winning a battle. I also don’t like what they did with Luke, it goes completely against his character.
I mean, we are now getting into the third and final film in the trilogy, and Poe and Rey have barely even fucking met. There’s no friendship between these characters, there’s no bond, no reason to care. They are just there to fill in quota’s (black guy: check, Asian girl: check, Latino guy: check, “strong female” lead: check)… It also doesn’t help that they didn’t have the story worked out. What JJ intended to be Ep 8 didn’t at all reflect Rian’s final product, in fact he threw out JJ’s early draft and started from scratch. These movies have no purpose, they are just there to make money.
Say what you want about the prequels, but those actually felt like SW movies and they actually CONTRIBUTED to the overall SW lore. So far, the sequel trilogy hasn’t contributed in any way, nor has it attempted to show us anything even remotely fresh.
And let’s not talk about the in-between films, because honestly I thought R1 was just abysmal and I haven’t seen Solo, but I’m pretty sure that’s for the best.
JJ Abrams: “This was the whitest fucking room ever, and I just thought, this is a great opportunity to hire some people of color” – him addressing why they chose John Boyega to play Finn. Yes, he literally said that… Also, how insulting can he be? Not just towards white people, but John Boyega, as if his skin color is what got him the role and not his talent. If I were him, I would take great offense at such a race-baiting statement.
Kathleen Kennedy has also literally said multiple times they want to inject their movies with social justice and feminism…
It’s not even a matter of “not wanting or liking to believe they are pushing agendas”, because the fact is, they are not even trying to hide it.
It’s not what they do that bothers me, it’s why. Female lead? No one gives a shit, but don’t force it down our throats and don’t pretend your movie’s better just because you’ve filled a fucking quota. Black lead? Okay, cool but don’t hire him just because he’s black. Hire him because he’s talented.
They are doing these things for all of the wrong reasons and it sickens me…
And Rey… My god, Rey, what a bland, stupid, overpowered and uninteresting character. She is not worthy of being the lead in SW, nor does Daisy Ridley give a particularly compelling performance tbh, she possesses no subtlety and overacts constantly and the writing just makes it that much worse.
Jyn may have been an equally boring character, but at least she wasn’t stupidly OP and a Mary Sue, and it didn’t feel like they forced that role into being a “strong female” one, like they did with Rey.
Wrong.
Look at TFA box office, then TLJ and now Solo. People are not loving this new slate of movies and Ep 9 doesn’t really have anything going for it.
Ep 7 was the return of SW. Rogue One was the return of Darth Vader and the missing link between Ep 3 and 4. TLJ was the return of Luke Skywalker (which is why people were pissed he died already).
What does Ep 9 got? Return of Lando? Yeah, no one gives a flying fuck about him.
They are lacking, but I enjoyed them.
