The latest “Saturday Night Live” parody of Marvel’s take on female-fronted superhero movies may not be so off, based on recently surfaced leaked emails from the Sony hack. Wikileaks published more than 30,000 searchable documents from the hack a few weeks ago, and one of the emails reveals exactly why execs thought superhero movies about women were bad for business.
The documents contain an email exchange between Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter and Sony CEO Michael Lynton with the subject line, “Female Movies.” Per Wikileaks, the email reads:

Lol, this is hilarious; marvel doesn’t make female superhero movies because of elektra, catwoman and supergirl; basically this just means that marvel is run by an internet troll…

This e-mail leak has no strength to it what so ever. One he was stating a fact that Catwoman, Supergirl, and Elektra were bad films. We don’t even know what was the topic of the e-mail. Another thing, if Marvel was so against female lead characters, then how come Captain Marvel is getting her own Movie? Also Marvel’s Agent Carter did so well that it’s getting a second season and Agents of Shield has women centered characters and they’re doing a Jessica Jones Netflix show.

Two things: The guy that sent that email is no longer at Marvel, AND He mentions female movies that did not work. He NEVER says going forward that he or Marvel is averse to making Female movies, just that they need to have all their “I’s” dotted and all their “T’s” crossed. I’ve never known SHN to be so click-bait.
