Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon.

Thank fuck. The last installment in this trilogy deserves better than a man of zero unique skill whose best achievement is making a generic film that people only liked because of nostalgia. This guy is clearly not a good director. He just got lucky with Jurassic World. That doesn’t change the fact that the movie was just mediocre… and some of his story choices were just horrendous. “Raptors in the army”? I mean, are you fucking serious?

Safety Not Guaranteed was a good little indie he directed. Definitely doesn’t have quite the experience of Johnson or Abrams though.

Just FTR, “Raptors in the army” is an idea taken directly from the first Jurassic Park novel by Michael Crichton, who also wrote the screenplay for the first film based on his story. All the dinosaurs even in the original film are also genetically modified since it isn’t possible to fully recover dinosaur DNA from a mosquito. :P
Indominus Rex is just the same concept but dialed to 11.-
But one should always strive to make the best film. Not the most faithful adaptation.

OK, I was just letting you know that it wasn’t Colin’s idea but the late creator’s.
Personally I’d wait until I see raptors in the army on screen before deciding if it’s dumb. Animals in the army aren’t entirely unheard of and it’s actually found quite often in real history—it’s not unprecedented. Michael Crichton did years worth of research before saying anything. :)

From whats been said and kind of seen, they let Rian Johnson take Episode 8 in some really weird and different places so what you say might not be the case. If however Episode 8 is just a soft remake of Empire Strikes Back then you’re right.
