We don’t normally respond to fan or press speculation, but there is a rumor circulating that we would like to address. We want to assure our fans that Lucasfilm has no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher’s performance as Princess or General Leia Organa.
Carrie Fisher was, is, and always will be a part of the Lucasfilm family. She was our princess, our general, and more importantly, our friend. We are still hurting from her loss. We cherish her memory and legacy as Princess Leia, and will always strive to honor everything she gave to Star Wars.

So they’ll just write her out of the movie? How stupid and disappointing.
Seriously, what the hell is wrong with recreating a deceased actress with CG? Do you really think she would care? Honestly, if I were playing ANY role, and I suddenly passed away, I’d still want them to continue my legacy. So fucking what it’s CG? Who cares? That’s not disrespecting the character. Completely ignoring the character and writing her off, THAT is disrespectful.2 likes-
Wow. Where did you get that? “Writing her out” or “ignoring the character” was never mentioned anywhere in any release by Disney or Lucasfilm. Hell, that hasn’t even been implied by a single person connected with either company.
What you are doing is stirring the pot, and nothing more.

Umm, recreating her via CGI is far more likely than recasting the role. So if they’re not using CG, chances are they’ll never use another actress which MUST mean the character is absent from the script. There is no other possibility. Except if a puppet seems like a “realistic” choice to you, no there is ZERO chance she’s in the movie (again, except if they recast her, and they won’t).

That’s a lot of assumptions on your part, based on nothing.

There is no assumption. It’s complete logical consistency.
There are 3 possibilities:
1: CG (Debunked)
2: Recast the role (less likely than CG, considering they just did Leia and Tarkin with CG. But still a possibility nonetheless)
3: Write her outThere is NO other possible option. Nothing else can be done. Why the hell is that so hard to understand?
So either they’ll recast her (which is VERY unlikely) or they’ll write her out. These are the ONLY 2 POSSIBLE options. Except if you can give me other options, but we both know that’s not possible.0 likes

I can’t see the issue with it if the family was ok with it because in the end they knew her best and what she would have wanted. But it’s not happening anyway so really pointless discussion. Either way I hope Leia goes out with a bang, the character deserves it.
