If today’s Deadpool 2 casting news left you surprised and wondering how Josh Brolin could play Cable in one Marvel movie universe and Thanos in another, you’re not alone. Ryan Reynolds expressed similar concerns on Twitter this afternoon.

Of course, there really is no issue at all with Brolin playing Cable in Fox’s Marvel mutant-verse and Thanos in Marvel Studios/Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe. It helps that Brolin does his Thanos work via performance capture, which keeps him well hidden from view and should prevent any confusion on the part of less-informed audience members. You can bet, though, that Deadpool (Reynolds) will be poking fun at Cable regarding his “other job” at some point in Deadpool 2.
