Marvel Studios’ Black Widow standalone movie has its director.
Cate Shortland, the Australian director perhaps best known for the Nazi drama Lore, has signed on to direct Black Widow, Marvel’s action-adventure project that will star Scarlett Johansson.

What a joke. This movie will have even less to accomplish than the Ant Man movies, and that’s really saying something.

This movie is like 8 years too late. Johansson has been proven to be box office poison at this point (Lucy being the only exception). This movie should have been made when she was introduced in Iron Man 2 and before the original Avengers film. That would’ve been a prime spot for this to release. It can’t be a prequel cause Johansson just does not look like she did 10 yrs ago (unless they did the CGI de-aging for an entire movie like Fury for Captain Marvel) but having that for the starring role could be a bit distracting. I just feel like this film missed its mark but ya can’t doubt Feige’s decision making lately so who am I to judge? Lol

Kevin Feige’s not as dumb as he looks. The reason why he didn’t do it eight years ago is because there’s no money to be made here. And he knows it.
That being said there’s a movement out there to get films like this made and Feige probably held off as long as he could.

Scarlett is awful casting for Natasha (Ruffalo for Banner is too) and she is just not a good actress, what they should have done is a SHIELD movie with Hawkeye, Fury, and her BEFORE The Avengers to develop SHIELD, instead of the shit they did with Iron Man 2
