I don’t mind them making a score based off of the classic theme song, but I’d much rather have a great completely original soundtrack.
Even The Amazing Spider-Man got that part right, with a nice ost, even though the movie itself was not all that.
It’s a shame they changed the themes between ASM 1 and 2. I loved the romance theme in 2, but aside from that the soundtrack was all over the place. I loved his theme in the first one. Weird to think I’d choose the theme that wasn’t made by Zimmer.
Zimmer is awesome but you can tell in some movies of his (Batman v Superman, Amazing Spider-Man 2, The Da Vinci Code sequels, those Madagascar movies, etc.) that he really didn’t give a fuck and used a lot of his previous work as a basis, or just made really unimpressive new music.
I really hope Spider-Man: Homecoming breaks the trend of MCU movies with terrible music composition.
Yeah it seems whenever Zimmer has to collaborate with someone else (Junkie XL for BvS and Pharrell and the others for ASM), he tends to let go creatively a little bit and let them take over.
At this point I’ve kind of given up on the music thing for the MCU. If I keep going into each one hoping for a great hero theme I’m just going to keep being disappointed lol
But then you’ll miss out on some “great” and “memorable” tunes like this:
Fucking thing sounds like one of those generic, free “action movie” soundtracks you find on the internet!
Enjoyed it, but of course I still feel like a old fart who can’t let go of the past. The music composed by Danny Elfman for Spider-Man is some of my favorite movie scores of all time.
Not bad, but it’s just meh for the most part.
Can you even call this a twist of the original theme since its just an orchestra version of it?
Especially since the Raimi films each had different artists do a variation of the original theme (1st one had Aerosmith, 2nd one had Michael Buble, and the 3rd one had The Flaming Lips).
I appreciate taking risks (which is ironic considering he basically copy pasted earlier work), but no thank you. I can’t take that theme seriously. I’d rather he compose something original and fresh.
Also why are people complaining about Aunt May? She’s 51 and most aunts or uncles are between a young age to being older.
