The Force dominated at the box office as Disney-Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi opened with a stellar $220 million weekend at 4,232 North American sites — the second-highest opening weekend of all time.
“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” trails only the $248 million launch of 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

it would be a nice experiment, but i think that metacritic and rotten audience score has more to do with raged fans bashing the film, they have more reasons to vote against than the people that liked the film

So its fine to have an opinion that favours the film but not when your opinion doesnt favour it? The reason people are mass down voting it is because they are fed up with the big media set up making out the film is liked by the majority. When in reality the majority are absolutely disgusted with it and whats been done to the franchise.

But then if you look at any video on youtube of someone giving their reasons for why they believe it is a poor film, you can see they are all very detailed in giving an explanation for why they think certain things. I dont think its people being “man children” because luke didnt use a light sabre or something. I think they are genuine in what they believe and have good reasons for their opinions.

This was your response when i simply said that people are not happy when any negative reason for disliking the film is played off as “man child crying” but when someone likes the film they are praised for being a film critic. It is reponses like you gave that rub people the wrong way.

Films awful. Disney completely destroying starwars, Mary Sue, PC galore, plots from 7 totally dismissed, left with no plot at the end of 8 and the lore of starwars has been ripped to shreds.
Critics will always give glowing reviews for franchises like this because they then get invites to events.
I can see a lot of people not bothering with episode 9 as it will be a waste of money to them. I personally am not bothered now and wont go to the cinema to see 9. sticking with the originals and accepting starwars finished with episode 6

The whole idea of there being a map to luke was completely pointless and made no sense from what happened and what was said in episode 8. Snoke as a character was completely pointless as they built him up to be some big character who just died with no explanation of who he is or where he is from and even the way he died made no sense. Reys parents were teased and built up and turned out to be absolutely nothing. The whole of episode 7 was a build up to getting to luke but then in the 8 he is just miserable and completely out of character, making no sense (even hamill confirmed this). So the whole build up to Luke was pointless. Episode 7 the first order was defeated but all of a sudden are back and exactly as they were with no explanation. episode 7 and 8 barely even fit together with plot holes all over the place, do i need to mention superman?

Snoke did nothing to warrant introspection? He was the main antagonist but there was literally no point him Snoke being in the film. He was a pointless character just like the other new main characters in episode 8.
what ever reasons any characters gave there was a big emphasis through out the whole film of trying to find luke, then in 8 it was a terrible reveal for what happened to him completely unrelating to the character,
I think vaders reveal that he is lukes father after a 2 film build up is a much bigger and effective reveal that finding out reys parents just left her somewhere. I get that you are trying to relate the two for the reasons of pushing the character but I dont think they relate in any way. I think it was bad character development.
Vader was always the big bad and that was the whole back message of the film, that there is always hope and good in people.
I can see youve made a lot of connections with the previous films and morals and are finding some good reasoning for certain things. But I just think that you are maybe looking a lot deeper into things than they did when they were making the films. I believe they wrote the films to make money more than they wrote the films to be good and true to the starwars universe itself.

There was no point in Snoke because he was built up for us to look forward to getting more of his back ground but then got nothing.
You’re essentially saying they have copied the previous films. Which is probably worse than doing them poorly. Being fair though, TFA was a complete rip off of ANH.
Its not as in there is good in everyone but the central point for the final stages of the main story was that even though vader had gone extremely far down a dark path, he could be pulled back and Luke went though basically risking sacrificing himself to do this. Yet when he has a quick notion that Kylo could be bad he tries to kill him instantly? please, that made no sense what so ever.
“But there are still questions surrounding her. Where did Maz get the lightsaber? Why does it “call to Rey”? Those answers may not be part of the story meant to challenge that character or the audience, they may be part of the story may be the one meant to leave us with the warm and fuzzies…” No sorry, this is simply where a different director and writer took over and didnt see fit to carry on any narrative with any of these details and just focused on doing their own thing.
Also how is Rey suddenly a complete expert user of a light sabre and force powers? makes no sense.
To be honest I dont think the knights of ren will come into place in episode 9. I think they have literally been left behind in the first film no matter what theory people come up with about who they are.
I think the 3rd film will be a copy of return of the jedi with Rey reaching kylo and turning him back to the light and having a funeral for him.

Also I think Kylo is a terrible main villain to have, this is a the same person who got beat by someone whos never used a light sabre or had any training. Someone who was conflicted in the first film. someone who looked weak in the first film. People dont see that characteristic of a major villain which is partly why he is failing in the role in many peoples eyes, i.e bad character development.
