When you mentioned that the death of Superman in BvS would have been more impactful if there had been another solo Superman film first, do you also feel that Han Solo being frozen in carbonate (which is, for all intents and purposes, similar to his death since audiences in 1980 had no idea if he was coming back) had no emotional impact because there wasn’t a solo Han Solo movie between episodes four and five?
Similarly, would Captain America’s “death” at the end of the first Cap movie have been more impactful if they had waited until the third solo Cap movie to do it?
My guess is no to both because you argument is a straw man argument. If you weren’t emotionally affected by Superman’s death in BvS, that’s fine (I was, but different strokes for different folks). But it wasn’t because there wasn’t an extra Superman solo film. You guys are usually better than this. I expect more thoughtful and insightful analysis from you both.
