What you and so many people are failing to realize about this whole situation with Gunn is that TWEETS (public statements) HAVE CONSEQUENCES. Even if those tweets were from years ago. Because decisions we make in the past and the present will always have repercussions. We’re supposed to learn this from when we are very young. Of course we all have said things and done things we regret. But it doesn’t negate the fact that I can’t write something or say something without it having some kind of effect. And in James Gunn’s case, offensive and disgusting public statements (whether he’s “changed” or not) are STILL wrong. The lesson to learn here: What you post on the internet never goes away. And you can’t expect to say whatever you want or do whatever you want even if it’s from years ago and expect that there will be no consequence to your behavior. Disney made the right call.
