“The airport is a hundred percent digital,” ILM visual effects supervisor Russell Earl tells me over the phone. “Spider-Man, Giant-Man, and Black Panther are always one-hundred percent CG. Iron Man, War Machine, and then we’ve got Vision.” The exceptions were characters like Black Widow, Captain America, or Winter Soldier — basically, the few people not wearing a mask of some sort. But while directors Joe and Anthony Russo did shoot at an airport in Germany, only a handful of principal cast members were there — with the majority of the live-action footage shot against a giant green screen in Atlanta, Georgia and assembled by the visual effects team later.

Let me get this straight…
BvS uses a beautifully blended mixture of CG and practical effects: “too much CG… looks like a video game…CG capes? Lame”
Civil War shamelessly keeps some characters 100% CG, who definitely shouldn’t be: “couldn’t even tell!”

I saw Civil War earlier today and really hated that airport scene. The “epic battle” was full of poses and jokes. I much preferred the final battle. Also, Spider-Man should not have been in this movie. The tone of the movie changes too much as soon as he is introduced.

I could say the exact same thing about the Airport scene… till the last fight scene between Cap, Bucky and Stark happened. That was the REAL “Civil War”, right there.

We must’ve not watched the same movie. BVS was far and away more brutal and dramatic. The airport scene was phenomenal, but it was full of one liners and wasted characters (looking at you Vision).

The he killed my mom scene was definitely written better. I’m not a big fan of the Martha solution. I don’t have a bias towards either (although I’m a batman fan more than any other character). I just see the faults in movies, but I enjoy them for what they are. Both movies are completely different in tone so I loved them for different reasons.

Just wish Nolan and Raimi would come back and fix the amount of CGI in every superhero movie today. Pretty sure WW’s not really riding that horse in the clips
