Great as always guys! Have to disagree with Hector on his thoughts on Harley and Joker. I thought they were both handled well, I really enjoyed Margot Robbie’s Harley, but definitely needed more Joker to get a good feel on Leto’s portrayal. Overall I really enjoyed SS, and as others have pointed out, the general audience seems to as well with passing 700 million worldwide.
Hector, Dan, and Dani sound like they have been smoking to much marvel comedy crack. Now that they have watch some DC movies, they are going through Marvel comedy crack withdrawal. Hector needs to stay clear of giving directions to comic books and movies. His opinions are clearly biased in favor of marvel. DC doesn’t need to copy the crappy comedy one liner and the lack of real villians and real danger of Marvel. DC can certainly lighten up a little and bring more hope but to add more jokes and retard the script so that kids could enjoy it; is a really stupid idea. Hector’s got it wrong. In addition, they are completely wrong about Suicide Squad being not well liked. $709 Million doesn’t mean it’s generally not well liked. SS is making more money than Gaurdians, even though it didn’t open in China. Guardians real budget was $223 Mil while SS was $175 Mil. If you do the math, you’ll see SS is a hit by fans and a blockbuster. I like DC’s premise of a realistic world where superheroes happens to exist too. DC’s world have real threats and well developed villians that cause long lasting psychological and physical harm to their heroes. This is not called gritty, it’s called treating comic book characters with respect and maturity. I’m not trying to bash marvel here. I like Marvel for its brand of cheesiness and slapstick jokes because that’s marvel. It’s just mindless fun. I want DC to stay true to their brand which is to be complex heroes for adults to enjoy. DC heroes make choices that have logical long lasting impact in the world they exist in against villians that cause real harm to others. I don’t want DC to take the childish Marvel short cut of throwing realism out the door by ending a conflict through a bromance letter. Keep Marvel, Marvel and DC, DC. DC doesn’t need to copy Marvel and Marvel doesn’t need to copy DC. I can be a fan of both Marvel/DC and I can appreciate their differences.
