Mark’s comment about a three-part Lord of the Rings approach to a super-hero movie series: My hypothesis is that, once Justice League is released, that’s exactly how MoS, BvS, and JL will play. As one long trilogy (with the solo movies acting as (for lack of a better word) “appendices” that expand upon and further develop the worlds that were introduced in that trilogy).
Side note: I also think that’s one of the reasons the DC films have gotten so much criticism: Because (if my hypothesis is correct) they’re actually doing a pretty traditionally structured, epic trilogy and NOT the long, rambling, never-ending movies-as-a-cinematic-tv-series approach that Marvel is. WB/DC’s goals are different from Marvel’s, yet they’re being judged by the Marvel standard which (again, if I’m correct) doesn’t apply to what they’re doing.
My two cents.
