Although I’ve come to expect it from Marvel at this stage, I am still a little disappointed they went for such a gag fest with this. Why put Ragnorock in the title if nothing is really at stake and the film just goes from one gag to the next. I’m thrilled to get a version of Planet Hulk on the big screen but from all accounts it should have been it’s own movie and Ragnarock a separate film. Wasted opportunity for both the Ragnorock storyline and Planet Hulk story in my opinion.
They d9nt have the r8ghts to do a hulk solo film
They still could have included Thor in it. It could have been a film about Planet Hulk and then lead to Thors solo film in Ragnorock.
I’m not a massive fan either to be honest. I do know enough though to say the MCU, has really nerfed Thor’s powers. Ragnorock apparently aims to set this right somewhat I hear. Ragnorock itself could have made for a truly epic film for Thor with real tension and real stakes at hand, it’s by all accounts a missed opportunity. I’m sure the film will be worth a one time watch but it could have been so much more.
No not really not from my admitted limited experience
I’m not a reader of the comics either, but I have read Norse mythology. This new direction that they have taken with Thor infuriates me. And bringing Ragnarok into this was the cherry on top.
Preach, my brother. Real talk.
I still love Marvel’s movies for the most part, but I’m so mad about this. Every time I distract myself with another superhero and Thor: Ragnarok (or any of the movies really) comes up in a comment, I get triggered. lol
I also read a plot point spoiler on Screenrant, and while the spoiler didn’t piss me off, it did make me go “Sigh. Really?”
Because I already know this isn’t the Thor movie for me, I won’t mind asking you to spoil it for me too. What was it?
The spoiler was dropped when Chris Hemsworth and Ruffalo were interviewed, and the interviewer repeatedly asked on live tv about the spoiler. Hemsworth had to almost beg the guy to shut up.
It’s both laughable and wrong that Disney’s Hercules showed more respect to its mythology, than Thor is showing to its. I don’t understand why they didn’t have MCU Thor be more based off of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ Thor.
I talked to one dude on Screenrant who said that because looks ridiculous and wields a giant hammer, audiences shouldn’t have to take him seriously. He said that it’s for the MCU poke fun at the ridiculousness of their characters, though that only makes sense for characters like Rocket Racoon and Groot, not the freaking god of thunder.
And these same people will say that the MCU is respecting the source material. Bullshit.
I understand and am okay that when adapting something, changes may be made that will differ from the source material. But what I’m not okay with are people lying by saying that one studio stays faithful or fully respects the source material, when there’s evidence that proves them wrong.
MCU fans are not Marvel Comics fans.
Marvel Comics fans don’t give a damn about box office gross and Tomatometers.
Marvel Comics fans don’t say the comics suck. Maybe the current product is poor but certainly not the stories that made these characters famous.
Marvel Comics fans don’t pretend the X-Men, Deadpool and Fantastic Four are second rate characters. The FF have hit hard times for sure but the X-Men (and Spider-Man) made Marvel the powerhouse it once was.
The hardcore MCU fanbase is just a bunch of idiots loyal to a brand, no different than the Transformers movies. They would buy two tickets to watch flys swarm dogs*** for two hours if Keven Feige told them it was tied into Infinity War.
Is people actually reading the reviews? They basically state there are more wrongs than rights with the movie, but they end up with a positive number at then because you will laugh with it…
Hate to be “that guy” but this is where people should be pointing to something fishy. jrvc has a point, he did his homework.
Something stinks when there are so many negative comments in the actual reviews but all the people who got early access still give it a “fresh” rating.
Of course hardcore MCU fans (different from Marvel fans) won’t be reading the reviews so what’s the difference.
What is with these Youtube roundtables where “fans” surround themselves with toys and other pop culture merchandise? Is this supposed to prove that you’re a real geek and you’re “one of us?” Please.
Perfectly put.
If Thor is as amazing as ALL of the reviews are saying, all of the justice league reviews will say;
“Not as good as Thor”
