The trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, which was unleashed Monday by Disney, the parent company of Marvel, has garnered more than 136 million views in only 24 hours.
It becomes the not only the most viewed Marvel trailer ever, but also the studio’s most viewed trailer ever across all its brands, which includes Disney’s live-action and animation divisions, Pixar, Star Wars, as well as Marvel.

As a lover of mythology, I am disappointed with the tone that’s being presented. And why send Thor into space? Why not explore the other realms? We’ve only been in Midgard, Asgard, the Frost Giants realm, and the Dark World.

I have to be honest…not a Marvel comics reader so I’m not familiar with the story at all. Does this trailer give any hint that the story from the comics is being adapted or are they just using the name because it’s a popular Thor storyline?

Neither am I. I am only familiar with Norse mythology, and the trailer just doesn’t scream “the end of of the world” to me.
