Because director David Ayer hadn’t written the Suicide Squad script yet, he had Delevingne Delevingne read the part of Martha from “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”. Delevingne immediately felt confident because she had played that part before in a school play, but Ayer told her to forget everything she knew about the character. Instead, he wanted her to try the part so many different ways that she was ready to “beat people up” by the end of the the audition. “I was like, ‘Honestly, if I go outside and punch people, you’ve got to come get me out of jail because I am so furious,” she says. “He sparked a f-cking fury in me.”
