‘Suicide Squad’ director confirms theatrical cut is “very different” from the original version

Suicide Squad director David Ayer has publicly stood by the theatrical cut of the movie, though he’s admitted multiple times that he’d do things differently if he could do it all over again — like making Jared Leto’s Joker the main villain. But this weekend Ayer revealed for the first time what many fans have been assuming for years: the theatrical cut of Suicide Squad was very different from his original cut.

“Harley’s arc was vastly simplified,” Ayer told a fan on Twitter. “It’s fun to play “gotcha” but remember released film was very different from original assembly.”
